Here's some information about a few of the names and faces you can see most days in and around our building on Greenfarm Road...

Brian is our "Pastor with Congregational Leadership" and came to NMBC in 2006 from Airdrie where he led a church for about ten years.
Married to Janet and with two children, Daniel and Rachel, he was born in Inverness on Scotland's Moray Firth coast and worked as a fisherman before going to the Baptist College in 1994.

Working with us here at NMBC on a part-time basis is Martin Boyd. Dad to Matthew and Lois, Martin splits his time between working with us, and his role as a regional worker for SU Scotland. At SU, Martin's remit is the huge geographical area of Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and Argyll! More about his work with SU can be found on his page at the SU website. Here at NMBC Martin's role is Youth and Children's Specialist, with an input to all areas of our youthwork, in particular the development of youth leaders. Martin can be contacted by

Trish Collins is our Community Worker, involved in generating new and fresh expressions of who we are and what we do in and beyond, Newton Mearns. Trish has been at NMBC for over twenty years, is married to Jack and has three grown up children. Trish has previously worked with local Council community projects educating children and parents in moral and sex education and her great desire is to push into areas of great need, and great opportunity, for us to show God's love in action. Secretary at NMBC is Alison Bentley. Alison, a language teacher by profession, is married to David and the mother of grown-up son Steven, one of our Deacons.

A new role here at NMBC in 2010, our Administrator plays a key role in the smooth operation of much of the administrative and logistical side of what we do. Audrey Kelly was appointed to this new role and formally "took up post" in late February.

Gordon Mckinlay is one of our Deacons, but also fulfills the important role of Child Protection Officer. Ensuring we stay abreast of, and in full compliance with, latest legislation in this area, Gordon also co-ordinates in-house training for those of us coming into contact, and working, with children, young people and vulnerable adults. The importance of this role centres on our determination to replicate best practice in all our interactions with these groups of people.

We have a real focus on mission here at NMBC - local, national and international - and much of this is coordinated by the NMBC Missions Forum. Chair of the Forum is Aileen Watson. Aileen, a pharmacist, is married to Andy - their two daughters, Victoria and Bethany, are also involved at NMBC, particularly with our music ministry. The Forum meets regularly and keeps us up to date with what's going on with people from NMBC working with missions abroad, and with the latest news from missions partners. Prayer's an important part of our individual, and corporate, lives as followers of Jesus Christ. One of the ways we incorporate prayer into the regular activity of NMBC is the Prayer Team ministry. Available after each Sunday service, the work of the Prayer Team is coordinated by Jennifer Weir. A mother, Jennifer is married to George, and is a teacher in a local primary school.

Chair of our Deacons is Andrea Young. Andrea, a GP, is married to Keith and they have two teenage children, Craig and Laura. Andrea's role sees her coordinate plenary sessions of the Deacons, and includes that group's essential liason with our Elders and Pastor Brian More. The role involves working closely with Alison Bentley our Secretary as well as the other Deacons in their individual roles. Andrea has also historically organised our involvement in Mearns Community Week, a group she also Chairs.

Perhaps the most commonly seen face around NMBC on Greenfarm Road is our caretaker Richard Kerr. Richard, as well as being our caretaker, is alongwith his wife Catriona, heavily involved with AIDS Africa, a Christian relief charity with strong links to NMBC.
